Leon Timbo: This is Leon Timbo and the Family Band. I love you guys. We just gonna jump in before the sun come back.
[“Hold On” by Leon Timbo and the Family Band]
[upbeat acoustic guitar music]
Leon Timbo: Yeah, huh
Yeah, hey
Let’s go into the five, give it to me right here.
Where my people
The ones who know who I really am
The dreamers and lovers
If you need a prayer, they can send a prayer, yeah
Our Father in Heaven
Can we have some drinks down here?
You’re not alone
Come here and take my hand
Take my hand
You got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on
Let the love fill the room
Hey, you got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on, hey
Let the love fill the room
Go talk to ’em, Sinclair.
[groovy electric bass solo]
Listen here, that’s my brother.
Where my kinfolk
The ones who know who I really am
My dreamers and lovers
If you need a prayer, they can send a prayer, uh
Our Father in Heaven, uh
Can we have some drinks down here?
You’re not alone
Come here and take my hand
Take my hand
You got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on
Yeah!
Let the love fill the room
Hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on, yeah
Let the love fill the room
Can y’all make me feel good? Make me feel good.
Yeah, uh
Leon Timbo: I know it’s hot, it’s hot here, whoo! How y’all doing? What’s going on?
See, what you don’t know is I’ve been here all day and I got the best tan in this place. My tan is already complete, all this chocolate up here.
Yeah, hey
You got to, you got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on, hey
Let the love fill the room
Yeah, you got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on
Here we go, come on!

Leon Timbo: I’m talking to you.
I need you
Can you tell it to your real friends? Tell ’em right now.
I need you
I can’t do this life without you, baby. I can’t do it.
I need you
Go and tell ’em. Kiss ’em on the cheek and say,
I need you
Whoa oh oh

Leon Timbo: I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have my friends.
I need you, yeah
I think you got it!
You got to, you got to, you got to
Hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on
Let the love fill the room
You got to hold on
Life is better when you get your friends together
You got to hold on
Let the love
Let the love fill the room
Fill the room
Yeah yeah yeah
[audience applauding and cheering]
Leon Timbo: We just made it here, we just made it here. I’m crazy about Appleton. I’m bringing, just, my side of Americana. I’m bringing my sound, I’m bringing what I, the years and years of generations of sound that came through my family’s lineage, and I’m kind of showing you what you may not have heard from the South and from like, Georgia, Florida, you know, that Savannah. I’m bringing that to you.
I’m bringing you good old Southern folk, you know, right on the corner of Ray Charles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, you know? So it’s just right in that cusp. And that’s my addition to the tapestry of Mile of Music, and I’m excited about that.
[“Heaven” by Leon Timbo and the Family Band]
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
That wouldn’t make it a prayer
[funky bass and guitar music]
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
I wouldn’t call that a prayer
No
You can roll your fist for Jesus
But with Jesus, no love gets you anywhere
Hey
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
That don’t mean you seen the Lord
No
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
That don’t mean it’s in your heart
No
If your eyes are open
You see the enemy fight that sacred cause
Whoa
Whoa oh oh
Too many people
Cry out about heaven Yeah
From the warmth of a steeple
Bible held like a sword
It cuts nothing It cuts nothing
Absolutely nothing
But the children of the Lord
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
I wouldn’t call that a prayer
No
You can roll your eyes to heaven baby
I wouldn’t call that a prayer
No
You can roll your fist for Jesus
But with Jesus, no love gets you anywhere
Whoa
Leon Timbo: Here we go!
Whoa
Too many people
Cry about heaven
Yeah!
From the warmth of a steeple
Hey!
Bible held like a sword
But it cuts nothing It cuts nothing
Absolutely nothing
But the children of the Lord
[funky bass and drum music]
Leon Timbo: Let’s slow it down.
Whoa oh oh
Too many people, yeah
Cry about heaven, yeah
From the warmth of a steeple
Bible held like a sword
It cuts nothing It cuts nothing
Absolutely nothing Absolutely nothing
It cuts nothing It cuts nothing
Absolutely nothing Absolutely nothing
Your hate cuts nothing It cuts nothing
Absolutely nothing Absolutely nothing
But the children of the Lord
[drum roll]
[audience applauding and cheering]
