WPT's Director's Cut Programs Highlight Films by Local Producers

Director's Cut interviews local filmmakers followed by a presentation their films on Director's Cut Presents this June on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT). At 9 p.m. Thursday, June 3, Director's Cut Host Charles Monroe-Kane interviews Steve Burrows about his film "Chump Change." At 9:30 p.m., Director's Cut Presents features "Chump Change," which traces the rise, fall, rise, fall and rise of Milwaukee Steven whose descent into the nightmare of Los Angeles sends him fleeing back to his native Wisconsin. At 9 p.m. Thursday, June 10, Director's Cut offers an interview with filmmaker Jarrod Crooks followed at 9:30 p.m. by a presentation of his film "Thieves Like Us" on Director's Cut Presents. The film is an action-packed comedy about a guy named Toby who intends to give up his life of thieving and marry his longtime girlfriend. The program will encore at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12 on WPT. At 9 p.m. Thursday, June 17, Director's Cut interviews University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Department of Film Chair Rob Yeo and several student filmmakers from the Pecks School of the Arts. At 9:30 p.m. Director's Cut Presents will show Peck School of the Arts films from the 29th-Annual UWM Student Film Festival. The programs will encore at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19 on WPT. At 9 p.m. Thursday, June 24, Director's Cut will have an interview with filmmakers Corey Kealiher and Chris Rye. Their film, "For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty," will follow at 9:30 p.m. on Director's Cut Presents. The documentary follows the historic Ron Paul campaign from the perspective of grassroots activists and showcases the unique often bizarre, yet, groundbreaking projects they undertook as they brushed aside traditional campaign methodology.
