PBS Wisconsin is pleased to announce a $5,000 gift from the Stateline Community Foundation’s Community Impact Grant Program to help make possible Wisconsin Hometown Stories: Beloit, the next documentary in PBS Wisconsin’s popular long-running history series that focuses on Wisconsin history, one community at a time.
“The involvement of the local public is crucial to the development of our Wisconsin Hometown Stories series,” said PBS Wisconsin Director of Television Jon Miskowski. “Through the generosity of the Stateline Community Foundation and the Community Impact Grant Program, viewers across Wisconsin will learn how Beloit grew from its earliest beginnings and see how Beloit’s legacy of innovation continues today with forward-thinking businesses and an unwavering sense of community.”
The 60-minute documentary will premiere on PBS Wisconsin later in 2024 and will be available for online streaming at pbswisconsin.org and on the free PBS App.
The film will feature interviews with local historians, community leaders, families, workers and business owners to examine the foundation of Beloit’s history. Viewers will delve into Beloit’s founding, learn about its industry, examine the highlights of its growth, and meet the generations of people who impacted Beloit.
Full video interviews and extensive filming of the area will enrich the permanent archives of the Wisconsin Historical Society and Beloit Historical Society.
