PBS Wisconsin Education is excited to announce the launch of its aka Teacher podcast, featuring local educator Joanna Rizzotto, an alternative education teacher at South Milwaukee High School REAL Academy, as one of four co-hosts.
The aka Teacher podcast – created with and for Wisconsin educators – explores how educators balance their many roles, and the joys, challenges and questions that come with their profession. It is part of an online suite of resources that includes videos, essays and other materials for today’s educators.
Initial episodes introduce the four talented and dynamic Wisconsin educator co-hosts, review what they are experiencing this school year, and examine important topics at the top of educators’ minds.
Rizzotto, the aka Teacher barrier breaker, is a first-generation high school and college graduate who developed and operates a transformational alternative education high school program. She focuses on regulation and healthy adolescent development in physical, emotional, social and academic domains.
“Elevating educators’ experiences and insights on this platform to discuss the topics at the top of their minds is a way to honor and share the deep expertise we have in the state,” said Alyssa Tsagong, PBS Wisconsin director of education. “I learn so much from listening to them, and I know you will, too.”
Listen as they welcome guests with important insights and questions on topics like mental health, school culture, teacher morale, educational policy changes and much more at pbswisconsineducation.org/akateacher.
