JOB SUMMARY
PBS Wisconsin is looking for a creative, video promo producer/editor. Join our small, talented, versatile team of producers and editors who create native video content for our on-air stations, digital, and social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook.
We support the compelling work of PBS Wisconsin, who provides multimedia content throughout the state of Wisconsin. We impact viewership and connect with the entire community through on-air, online, social media and community events. Our team works to serve our audience while producing short, diverse promotional videos about PBS Wisconsin original series and community events, in addition to national PBS programs and other outside content.
You’ll be working on a variety of short promos from concept to completion. A majority of your promo work ranges from :15 seconds to 1 minute. You’ll do it all from brainstorming ideas, directing talent in the field, editing promos, and creating motion graphics. Ideal candidates will be proactive, self-starters that have a desire to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines as an individual contributor, as well as an individual in a team environment. This position is part of the Marketing/Communications & Audience Engagement department and reports to the Video Promotions Manager.
EDUCATION
Required
Associate’s Degree
Bachelor’s degree preferred, concentration in the Communication Arts (Film, TV or Video Production, Digital Media, or related field) preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
2 or more years of professional video production experience including producing and script writing or storytelling
2 or more years of hands-on professional experience editing video and multi-track audio. Demonstrated effective and creative use of voice-over, soundbites, nat/sot, music, sound effects
2 or more years using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop or similar professional-grade non-linear editing software
Creation of graphic assets for video projects, including text treatment
Experience working independently, in teams, and with direction from outside clients
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task and change focus quickly while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience producing, writing and editing :15, :30 and/or :60 second promos and commercials
Experience producing video and audio content for a variety of broadcast and digital distribution platforms including social media, OTT, apps, and other emerging media platforms
Hands-on experience creating motion graphics or animation with Adobe After Effects or other similar professional-grade software
Hands-on experience directing on screen talent
Experience with branding and social media marketing
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and produces content and production materials in one or more areas for programming. Assists in developing, coordinating, and directing the production strategy and process.
- 5% Researches and develops production strategy for one or more programs across broadcast and digital platforms
- 40% Produces, develops, and edits content that may include identifying topics, themes, guests, conducting pre-interviews and/or interviews, writing, and/or integrating content for multimedia platforms
- 10% Performs daily operational activities for live and pre-recorded content, and may direct the editorial and creative process of production activities
- 20% Collaborates with other content creators in pre- to post-production processes, prepares materials, and handles logistics for broadcast and/or digital publications
- 20% Maintains familiarity with studio equipment and/or applicable technology for production
- 5% May schedule and direct operational activities for content production, including live/recorded studio or field productions
SALARY
Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
We anticipate paying an annual salary in the low to mid $50s with actual pay dependent on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time position that requires working on site a minimum of 2 days per week at PBS Wisconsin in Vilas Hall on the UW-Madison campus in Madison, WI. Working a hybrid schedule with up to 3 days per week working remotely can be arranged.
