Split-screen image with a black-and-white photo of a woman, Lorine Niedecker, in glasses and plaid dress on the left, and a color photo of a man, Nicholas Gulig, in a cap and plaid shirt typing on the right. Across the center is a red textured banner with the words “Welcome Poets” in white text.

Join us at the Hoard Historical Museum for a special community screening of Welcome Poets! This film follows former Wisconsin Poet Laureate Nicholas Gulig in a reflective homecoming, interwoven with the life and work of Fort Atkinson’s own Lorine Niedecker (1903–1970). Through landscapes, memory, and poetry, Welcome Poets explores identity, place, and the power of poetry to give voice to community.

After each screening, stay for a brief Q&A and connect with fellow poetry lovers and neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there!

The first screening will start promptly at 5 p.m. followed by a second screening at 7 p.m. Please RSVP for the screening you plan to attend.

Funding for Welcome Poets is provided by the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation, Peter and Connie Roop, the Focus Fund for the Arts and Friends of PBS Wisconsin.
