Wisconsin Triple Berry Meringue Crown
What was your favorite thing about The Great Wisconsin Baking challenge overall (whether you participated in one or all challenges)? What did you learn from this final challenge? What are you most proud of when it comes to your bake?
My favorite thing about the baking challenge was trying new recipes and seeing all the creative bakes other Wisconsinites came up with. With this challenge I learned what cornflour is. I now know it is the British term for corn starch. I am most proud of the decorations on my crown. I was able to find a third berry (which I hadn’t originally planned for) and I love the flowers. I also love all things British so I enjoyed making the crown. I had accidentally piped on the wrong layer so just did the decorative piping on all layers. I like the way it turned out
Did you incorporate three local ingredients into your Final creation? Tell us about your Wisconsin twist!
Yes I did! The egg whites used were from our chickens, the two colors of raspberries are from the Farmer’s Market, local blueberries and the last minute addition of elderberries were from my yard. (I was thankful the birds hadn’t gotten them all yet.) I borrowed the flowers from my sister’s flower bed and I also garnished with a few wild plums.
How did you do?
Absolutely lovely.
