Sponge Puddings

Give your dessert a clever name – and tell us about your recipe.

Mini Puds – Chocolate Cherry and Tarragon Honey. My fan club members have been sayin' I'm hard on myself when reviewing my bakes, but it's because I always feel I can do better. This week my peeps will be glad to know I feel I totally rocked this one!

What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!

Did I have an unconventional approach?!!! BOY DID I, and I’m willing to go out on a limb and guess no one else in the entire world steamed their puddings on a steamboat for the WI Baking Challenge. Call it a hunch. 🙂 Dad built a steamboat and a couple of years ago I asked him to make a Windermere Kettle Coil so I could cook things aboard. (See video for a quick explanation) He did, and now I do. Steamed pudding is one of my favorite things to make.

How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?

I cooked my puds aboard a steamboat built in WI while Dad and I spent quality time together steaming along on a leisure cruise around a WI lake. Ingredients were Wisconsin-y too, but weren’t as interesting as the method in which they were cooked.

How did you do?

Rocked it.
