Hand Raised Pie

Give your pie a name based on the ingredients and decoration.

King's Arms Norfolk Pottage Pye – I was recreating a dish from a restaurant in Colonial Williamsburg.

Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.

My hand raised pie with liquid filling (not a blob of traditional icky sausage, which I was not a-gonna put in there) didn't hold up. Or maybe it was poorly made hot water crust (my first time, so didn't know what I was doin'). The baked pie looked like Manisha's crème caramel from the show's technical challenge last week. FLATSO! Good thing I made a back-up in a tin.

Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.

My first teeny garden potatoes of the year! They were the perfect size for my miniature pie. I'm still making everything mini this year.

How did you do?

It’s not pretty, but it’s edible.
