Baking Challenge

Treacle Tart

Give your tarts a name based on the flavors and decoration – and tell us about your recipe.

Cran Jam Lime Treacle(less) Tart. Instead of the traditional lemon zest to cut the sweetness of the treacle (corn syrup and honey in my case) I used cranberry jam at the bottom and lime zest mixed into the crumbs. Mum, who doesn’t like treacle tart because it is too sweet, said, “These are good.” so I’m taking this as a positive endorsement.

Now that you survived this challenge, what words of wisdom do you have to share?

My fan club member Pat told me I had to have more positve commentary on my bakes. What can I say? The first two were awful. I was going to throw in the towel if this one went the same way. But, it turned out okay. Not the prettiest (leave that to the fruit tarts this week). So, we’re improving! And, I’m continuing with my mission to make everything miniature this year.

Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist.

WI honey, WI butter, eggs from our chicken, WI cranberries

How did you do?

It’s not pretty, but it’s edible.
