Wisconsin Chiffon Cake

Give your dessert a clever name — and tell us about your recipe.

Wisconsin Fruits Mini Chiffons — Mini chiffon cakes covered with frostings made from many types of jam I've made from Wisconsin fruits. I picked most of them within five minutes of my house. And now I want to THANK all my fan club members for following along on this journey with me!

What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!

The biggest surprise was when I got my Airwaves newsletter and read that GBBS "rounds out its final season on WPT." WHAT?! There are still two PBS-unaired series of the UK BBC production of The Great British Bake Off. Is PBS worried viewers will catch on that the order they're airing them in isn't the same as in the UK, or concerned that the first two in the UK were formatted slightly differently than the rest of the run? We don't care! We just wanna see more British Baking. Please!

How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?

All Wisconsin fruits!! Are you ready? Here we go! Raspberry, Grape, Wild Plum, Wild Blueberry, Wild Blackberry, Wild Chokecherry, Elderberry, Wild Serviceberry. I made jam from all these fruits (& many more I could've added to the lineup) and decided to use them in my final bake. It turned out to be unremarkable-looking, however.

How did you do?

I participated in all 10 Great Wisconsin Baking challenges this summer — I’m a Star Baker!
