Wisconsin Tomato Pie
Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.
This was a savory pie baked with our own home grown tomatoes. I have never used this fruit in a pie before. The flavor was excellent. But unfortunately the pie had a soggy bottom even though I let the tomatoes drain in the refrigerator overnight, longer than the recipe instructed. And I also pre-baked my crust.
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
We have a greenhouse and grow many tomatoes from seed (in soil). They were so beautiful I had to try this pie. The recipe is from a 2014 "Zorba's Recipes" from WPR that my mom told me about. Thanks Dr. Zorba for this Wisconsin recipe used to make my Wisconsin Tomato Pie!
