Mini Pies
Give your baked creation a name and tell us about your flavors. Also, what are you most proud of?
Farmer’s Market Chicken Pot Pies. I used local produce from our city’s farmer’s market, including purple fingerling potatoes, sugar snap peas, carrots and red pepper all bathed in a tarragon creamy white sauce. I was very happy with the way that the molds that I made for each mini pie did the job of holding the desired shape. Having never made a pie with hot water pastry before, I was uncertain how the pie would hold its shape once the mold was removed from the bake. But yay, it worked!
The key to this week’s challenge is your creative presentation. Describe your display.
I used the mini pies to highlight the year that Wisconsin adopted its statehood, ie: Est. 1848.
It’s Wisconsin Week, so you need to showcase a super Wisconsin twist to your recipe and/or arrangement. Tell us about it.
As mentioned above, I used fresh local Wisconsin farmer’s market produce to fill the mini pies. Lettering made from dough highlights the year that Wisconsin became a state in the Union.
How did you do?
Rocked it.
