Baking Challenge

Family-sized Filled Meringue Crown

Give your creation a name based on the flavors and decoration – and tell us about your recipe.

A crown fit for a Cheesehead. It is a black forest filled meringue filled in the shape of Cheesehead because that’s the best crown worn in Wisconsin. I choose to do a black forest meringue because I was able to use local eggs for the meringue and local cream, farmers market cherries, and locally made chocolate.

What was your favorite thing about The Great Wisconsin Baking challenge overall (whether you participated in one or all challenges)? What did you learn from this final challenge? What are you most proud of when it comes to your bake?

My favorite part of the challenge overall was trying new recipes I would have never tried before and eating all the delicious creations. I also learned how much Wisconsin produces and how lucky we all are for the great dairy, fruit, vegetables, etc. Wisconsin produces. From the this final challenge I learned to loosen the meringue of the parchment when it comes out of the parchment. I am most proud of how the bakes turn out. They are so pleasant to each, which is from the wonderful quality ingredients Wisconsin produces.

Did you incorporate three local ingredients into your Final creation? Tell us about your Wisconsin twist!

I incorporated more than three local ingredients. I had the fresh local eggs, cream, chocolate and cherries. I also added a Wisconsin twist to the design since we don’t have kings and queens we don’t have crowns, but we are known for the Cheeseheads, which is the best crown anyone can ask for.

How did you do?

Rocked it.
