Raspberry Creme Caramel – I used Mary Berry's recipe. Since I had never made anything like the creme caramel before now, I really didn't want to change much of the recipe. I like to try a recipe as-is first and then make the changes. Mary's recipe was easy to make.
What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
The biggest surprise during my baking journey was to get the custard out of the ramekins. I finally used a sharp knife to cut around the creme caramel in the ramekin and then lifted up the custard a bit to loosen it from the bottom with a small palette knife with round edges.
I was also surprised that I could make the caramel. It was easy this year. Last year I had to try three times before I had a perfect caramel.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
I used eggs, milk and butter made in Wisconsin. I picked the raspberries from our small patch. They are really big this year. Unbelievable! We never had such big berries!
