Baking Challenge

Savory Pithivier

Give your dessert a clever name — and tell us about your recipe.

Pithivier with Chicken, Thyme and Potatoes — I combined two recipes. I used Brenden's from the Great British Baking Show plus another recipe that I found on the internet. I combined the two recipes with excellent results. I was really happy to use what I had grown or had on hand.

What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!

The biggest surprise during my baking journey was that everything worked out including the baking time and temperature and that the end result was delicious. Essentially, I learned how to make a French Pot Pie using Puff Pastry.

How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?

I used many WI products which included butter, milk, cheese, eggs, homegrown potatoes, homegrown peas, homegrown thyme and garlic. Maybe that is why the Pithivier was delicious!

How did you do?

I participated in all 10 Great Wisconsin Baking challenges this summer — I’m a Star Baker!
