Give your pie a clever name – and tell us about your crust and filling.
Luscious Cream Cheese Cherry Pie – I used the pie crust recipe from American Test Kitchen cookbook which had vodka in the crust. I made a cream cheese pie filling from a 1982 church cookbook. The cherry filling was made from scratch and the recipe came from a University of Georgia Extension Preservation Cookbook.
Was your pie underbaked, overbaked or just right? What was your favorite part of the process?
The pie came out just right. I enjoyed making the pie from scratch especially the cherry pie filling. I now refuse to use pie filling from a can because the filling made from scratch tastes so much better. The cherry filling was so easy to make. My panel of taste testers will be pleasantly surprised.
How did you add a Wisconsin touch to your flavors or decoration?
Of course I used butter and cream cheese. I wish that I could have obtained some Door County cherries but they are not available in the area. I used the herb Lemon Balm in my decoration.
How did you do?
It’s perfect – and I’m not sharing!
