Fall Petits Fours – Three fall-inspired flavors, and of course my go-to! We have a spice cake with a maple bourbon filling with a maple icing, and pumpkin spice cake with a cream cheese filling and the same maple icing, and a jalapeno popper pastry made with fresh jalapenos from our garden!
Tell us about your creation's final texture after baking. Are you happy with it?
The cake turned our moist and delicious! The filling turned out amazing and is an excellent sweet addition to the spice fall flavor of the cake. The icing has an addition of maple syrup that tastes amazing, but coating the mini cakes in icing proved to be a more time consuming task than I had time for! So in the end, the cakes got a nice topping but would not meet approval for a high tea with the Queen!
Detail how you added a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or presentation.
The jalapenos were from my own garden and cheese was local as well. I turned back to my old friends at J Henry & Sons Bourbon and the maple syrup flavors for the cake. This was an excellent way to swing fall into the kitchen! The cakes and the pastries were absolutely delicious!
