Have fun giving your creation a name and please describe your recipe.
Tell us about your creation's final texture after baking. Are you happy with it?
The cake was well baked, though my dividing skills will need more practice. Overall the flavors were quite yummy, but my first attempt at a crème pâtissière ended up on the lumpy side. I would have done it over if I had a chance and will conquer the filling in the future.
Detail how you added a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or presentation.
All of the fresh ingredients were 100% Wisconsin. I thought cherries in Wisconsin was predictable so I decided that my little twist would be using Von Stiehl Raspberry Framboise from Door County instead of the kirsch. My mother and her best friend have been pals for 81 years. Every year we visited the winery together and would bring a bottle of my mother's favorite home. Also, I pressed Monarch butterflies into the marzipan as an ode to the flocks that used to follow us on our journey.
How did you do?
