Looks Like Chicken and Gravy Strudel – It is an apple strudel, really, topped with brown sugar caramel sauce. The simple filling is made of apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and bread crumbs. Dough was made of flour, vegetable oil and warm water.
What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
My mother was 100% German. I tried making this in memory of her.
This was my first attempt at making a strudel. I was surprised at how it was pretty simple to make: chop up apples (did not add raisins) and roll out dough. The caramel sauce was a little disappointing. I will have to remake it.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
I shaped the strudel into the shape of a W. Ingredients were bought locally in Wisconsin.
