Baking Challenge

American Pie

Give your pie a name based on the ingredients and decoration.

I Made Two: Blueberry with Wine Pie and Jack Daniels Peach Pie
Was in a mood to add some adult beverage to the pies.

Both pies were made with different crusts.
Blueberry with wine was made with a shortening crust.
I simmered the blueberry with the wine for 45 minutes and cooled it for a while.
The design on the blueberry was made with long pastry strips in a spiral design.

The Jack Daniels Peach Pie
The crust was made with apple cider vinegar, sugar, flour and butter.
I soaked the peaches with Jack Daniels. I added to sugar, butter and cornstarch.
I rolled out the dough and added the filling. When I topped it with the rest of the dough, I created little morel mushrooms and added them to the top. I cut a mushroom shaped hole in the center. The ones on the edge fell off while baking, but it still looked good.
Both pies were really yummy.

Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.

The challenge was the edges fell off, but all turned out great.

Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.

The wine was Spurgeon Winery's Ruby Red. This is a winery in Highland, WI.
The peaches were from a fruit stand in Richland Center, Wi.
To add a touch of Muscoda to the peach pie I added some "morel Mushrooms" to the design.

How did you do?

Pleasantly satisfied.
