How did this baker brighten our summer?
One of our editors lived in Brooklyn for ten years, so Kat had her thinking fondly of her (second) home every week and reminded our audience of the enclaves of Wisconsinites across the U.S. and the world who continue to celebrate bits of their home state’s character, and enmesh those bits in other regional and global cultures. We’re waiting for a Sconnie-Brooklyn fusion food stand at Grand Army Plaza, Kat!
Our favorite Wisconsin Twist (pictured)!
Kat gave us edible autumn in her staggering “Wisconsin Maple Syrup Walnut Chiffon Cake.” She thinks “it’s not pretty” but we beg to disagree. It looks dazzlingly delicious and uses 100% Wisconsin maple syrup. This is quite the compliment given her proximity to Vermont. Hush, we won’t speak of Vermonters again.

Barely a baking story went by that didn’t include a reference to the locally sourced Wisconsin foods and brands Kat routinely hauls in her suitcase to La Guardia. We want your packing tips, Kat. Does the TSA confiscate your cheese curds?!
