What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
I opted to make four individual puddings instead of a single large one, as I didn't have the proper baking dish and my mom had just gifted me some ramekins. I made homeade breadcrumbs from leftover homeade bread and two different jams. I had never tried making a traditional bread pudding, and the bain-marie was a new technique for me. The texture of the pudding came out perfectly, but I unfortunately overbeat the merinque so I wasn't able to pipe it properly.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
Again I used locally-sourced eggs and two different jams (blackberry and strawberry-rhubarb) from my friends at the farmers market.
