Flag Day Baby – I found instructions on the internet. My son was born on Flag Day but we were away so I baked him his cake after we returned and fortunately just in time for this challenge!
Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.
The recipe called for box mix and I wish I’d have just made cakes from scratch. I am not a cake decorator but was happy we were able to recognize the flag! Not only is this for my son, but we have a party to go to for my Godson who is home on leave and we’re having a surprise party for him! A fun way to recognize his patriotism.
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
The red color layer has pureed fresh picked Wisconsin Strawberries, and the blue layer has last years Wisconsin frozen blueberries. I wish I could taste them in the cake a bit more, but I was happy to add that freshness.
