Gingerbread Monona Terrace – I tried a couple different gingerbread recipes and settled on one using molasses and a good amount of spices for flavor. It's "scrummy"! I had to experiment with the candy for the windows and ended up going with blue raspberry tootsie rolls.
Would you describe yourself as a rogue baker, or do you strictly adhere to the recipe?
I generally stick to the recipe, although I tweaked the icing on this bake. It started very, very thick so I added another egg white and that made it easier to work with.
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
I made a gingerbread version of the Monona Terrace. I love the view of the Terrace and skyline from across the lake! My gingerbread version came out kind of giant: about four feet wide, but I'm glad it's recognizable.
