Beary Favorite Treacle Tart – I was trying to figure out how to make the traditional recipe have a Wisconsin flair so I used Wisconsin honey and my husband said I should add blueberries. As I was making it I thought that this would be a black bear’s choice, and we have those in Northern Wisconsin. Thus the name!
Now that you survived this challenge, what words of wisdom do you have to share?
I have never make pie crust before so I was a little intimidated. My husband has attempted pie crust several times and always failed. I used America’s Test Kitchen crust recipe and it turned out beautiful. I also ordered golden syrup online in preparation for this bake. After reading up on recipes online there didn’t seem to be a good substtitue that would give that authentic flavor.
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist.
I used Wisconsin clover honey and a hearty bread from our local bakery (Uncle Mike’s). The blueberries were my last pint from last year from our local produce farmer (Moders). Good thing blueberry season is right around the corner!
