Cider Spice Chiffon Cake with Cinnamon, Maple, Brown Sugar & Butter Cream Frosting. I had to make the cake recipe twice because my first attempt was a total flop. . . not good, but I was not going to let a recipe get the best of me! It was nice to have the fall flavors of apple cider, cinnamon and maple all in one cake.
What was the biggest surprise during your baking journey? Did you use any unconventional approaches? What did you learn along the way? Tell us about it!
My surprise was that I did it. I tried recipes at random from the internet and The Betty Crocker Cookbook. For the most part, I followed the recipes as written and stayed with the basics.
How did you add a Wisconsin twist to your flavors or decoration?
The cake includes fresh apple cider from a local orchard, maple flavoring from local syrup, Penzeys spices and lots of Wisconsin butter and cream.
