How did this baker brighten our summer?
A fanciful, almost Seussian quality marked each one of Janice’s bakes this season. Her “Over the Rainbow” Hidden Design Cake, “Very Berry” Layered Meringue Dessert, “Belgian Spice” Crackers and “Gateau St. Honore with Cranberry Maple Caramel” could easily be at home on the tea party table in Alice’s Wonderland.
Our favorite Wisconsin Twist (pictured)!
Janice restrained most of her Wisconsin twists to the use of local brands and ingredients (a great strategy), but we continued to return to her “Over the Rainbow” Hidden Design Cake in Week 1 as our favorite. To us, the rainbow is a wondrous, inclusive symbol and The Wizard of Oz one of the great spiritual stories about how our searching need not venture far from our hearts and homes. In cake form? Even better.
