"Holla Back Girl"
I’ve never made challah bread before so I decide to go with a simple recipe. I tried to follow Paul Hollywood’s directions for braiding, but then I thought "I’ve braided hair – how hard can it be to braid bread?" And you see how that turned out. Anyway, it tastes and smells delicious! Shiny, fairly even bake as Paul would say. Next time I would try to incorporate basil, tomato and cheese into the dough.
Would you describe yourself as a rogue baker, or do you strictly adhere to the recipe?
I usually adhere to the recipe – but not today!
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist to your bread creation.
This loaf was made with New Century Farm eggs, Organic Valley butter and Lonesome Stone Milling bread flour. It’s photographed with a bouquet from the Dane County Farmers’ Market.
How did you do?
It’s not pretty, but it’s edible.
