Mirror Glaze Cake
Give your cake a name based on the ingredients and decoration – and tell us about the origin of your recipe.
"The Hail Mary"
This beautiful Wisconsin moment was based off of the beauty of Aaron Rodgers making an amazing pass to Jordy Nelson. The sponge cake is a twist on a french frasier cake. The actual cake is the recipe you would use for the cake and then the filling is a strawberry jam and a strawberry buttercream.
Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.
There weren’t many shining moments while making this cake. I had to make everything twice because the first time it never turned out just right. Even by the end, I had given up on the mirror glaze because I just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I did however like how cute my football players turned out and the strawberry jelly didn’t soak into the sponge so it had beautiful layers.
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
My Wisconsin twist was made with the decorations by using the state favorite. Also I used the fresh strawberries from my garden.
How did you do?
It’s not pretty, but it’s edible.
