Ultimate Cinnamon Buns — I didn't have to do a whole ton of searching for the challenge this week. I saw "sweet buns" and knew immediately that I would be making cinnamon buns. I've never made them outside of the Pillsbury tube and I have been wanting an excuse to try for ages. This seemed like the perfect opportunity! Buttery and spicy and sweet and HUGE. A giant cinnamon bun with sticky cream cheese icing and coffee was the perfect morning treat.
Now that you’ve survived this challenge, what words of wisdom can you share?
Mind what equipment you use for your bakes! I put them in round springform pans that kept them very snuggly together and the middle one was basically raw. I like gooey cinnamon buns, but this was definitely extreme. Next time I would use a pan with a bit more circumference so that when they inevitably spread while baking there is a bit more room and they can all get the heat they need to bake.
Tell us about how you added a Wisconsin twist.
They were finished with a light dusting of Penzeys cinnamon sugar and there was PLENTY of Wisconsin butter!
