Revisit the Golden Age of tennis with ‘Gods of Tennis,’ premiering July 23

Revisit the 1970s and ‘80s, a golden age of tennis when players including Arthur Ashe, Bjorn Borg, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King, John McEnroe and Martina Navratilova became worldwide superstars both on and off the court in Gods of Tennis.

The three-part series premieres 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 on PBS Wisconsin and streaming on the free PBS App.

Framed through the world-famous Wimbledon tournament and featuring archival footage from some of their greatest matches plus exclusive new interviews, explore how these iconic players not only revolutionized the game of tennis but dared to challenge the establishment and fight for social change.

I’m a project manager at PBS Wisconsin, and formerly an associate editor at WisContext. When I’m not scouring the state for fun music and arts content, I’m usually being forced to go on a hike by my demanding border collie or being forced to read on the couch by my demanding cats.
