Local cooks rise to the Create Cooking Challenge

Creative cooking shows – from unique international flavors to comforting favorites – have long been a key part of the public TV experience. Recently, the Create Cooking Challenge 2018 gave viewers of the Create channel a chance to envision a show of their own.

This year, several Wisconsin cooks rose to the challenge! Read on to see what they shared – and maybe get some tips of your own.
This national competition gave viewers – both home-based and professional chefs – a chance to share their culinary ability, knowledge and expertise with viewers via a video of two minutes or less featuring their favorite culinary tip, recipe, project or idea.
Nathan Kirst, of Neenah, has worked in restaurants, but his passion is for home cooking – hosting and cooking for others, and sharing recipes. Discover his tips for “How to Make Quinoa Tacos.”
Brooke Resch, of Madison, is a medical student who is always on the lookout for quick, healthy meals that fit her budget and schedule. She writes, “My sister Paige and I love spending time together in the kitchen. Join us in making a garlic Dijon chicken dinner.”
Marie True, of Sun Prairie, is a busy mom who loves to garden and try new things with her husband and three kids. (She’s also a proud participant in WPT’s Great Wisconsin Baking Challenge!) Check out “Marie’s Delicious and Easy Ham Sliders.”
This year, the big winner was Kiya Schnorr, a viewer of New York’s WNET. She won the Grand Prize of $4,000 and production equipment valued at approximately $1,000 to finance and produce the completion of a 10-episode web series for CreateTV.com.
