Pass the hot cocoa and celebrate the holidays with your favorite PBS KIDS shows! Enjoy a nutcracker tale with Elmo and his puppy pal Tango, new Work It Out Wombats! episodes and a trip to Mexico with Rosie’s Rules.
The Nutcracker: Starring Elmo & Tango
Premieres Saturday, Dec. 2
After a family holiday party, Elmo and Tango fall asleep listening to Elmo’s dad read the story of The Nutcracker. Elmo’s dream sends him on a musical adventure with a talking Tango, and together they learn about the gift of friendship!
New Work It Out Wombats! episodes
New episodes premiere Monday, Dec. 4
The Wombats are headed to the Treeborhood parranda, a special holiday party, when their bus breaks down. It’s up to JunJun and Louisa to save the day with their problem-solving skills! Then, see if the Wombats stay awake long enough to see the acorn drop at midnight on New Year’s Eve!
After catching up with the Wombats, practice computational thinking at home. The Make a Paper Flower Garden activity engages kids in identifying, copying and creating patterns. First, cut out paper flowers in two different colors. Use them to arrange a pretty flower garden! Then, come up with simple songs to help you remember the order of the patterns you made. Find full instructions in English and Spanish on the PBS KIDS for Parents website.
Rosie’s Christmas in Mexico
Premieres Monday, Dec. 11
Rosie is spending Christmas with her abuela in Mexico City! When she forgets to get a gift for Abuela, she has to hurry to find one before their Noche Buena celebration.
For DIY gifting inspiration at home, PBS KIDS for Parents has loads of ideas, like a Winter Wonderland Terrarium! Upcycle an empty glass jar by filling it with wintry objects outside or around the house. From pine cones and glitter to twigs and toys, the possibilities are endless! Check out a helpful video to get started.
