Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) begins airing its expanded summer weekday schedule of children's programs Monday, May 31. Throughout the academic year, WPT airs three and a half hours of programs for in-classroom use on weekdays. "More flexibility during the summer months allows WPT to expand its weekday schedule with frequently requested children's programs," says WPT Director of Programming Garry Denny. Back in the weekday lineup is Arthur. The animated series shows how Arthur and his friends use effective, age-appropriate, problem-solving skills. Clifford the Big Red Dog returns to the schedule with programs that emphasize good citizenship and the importance of community. WordGirl also returns with the adventures of mild-mannered fifth grader Becky Botsford who at the call of duty transforms into WordGirl.
