WPT's "The Wisconsin Gardener" Focuses on Hummingbird Gardens

A new episode of The Wisconsin Gardener on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) explores different ways to incorporate and attract hummingbirds to Wisconsin gardens."Hummingbird Gardens" premieres 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1 with an encore broadcast at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3. Producer, Host and Master Gardener Shelley Ryan visits Ina Lukas at Blooming Valley Nursery in Clyde to learn how to create the perfect habitat for hummingbirds filled with favorite hummingbird nectar plants. In Madison, Kathi and Michael Rock show Ryan how they attract hummingbirds by supplementing their lush flower garden with feeders. Viewers will discover why hummingbirds come back to their yard year after year.In Green Bay, Mayflower Greenhouse owner Jan Wos dispels the myth that one needs a yard to attract hummingbirds. Wos creates plant combinations in containers that are sure to bring hummingbirds to a patio or porch. Funding for The Wisconsin Gardener is provided by Wisconsin Master Gardener Association.
