Program celebrates the centennial of the Madison Symphony Orchestra.

PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio announced today that they will present a broadcast of the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Centennial Festival concert, recorded at Overture Center for the Arts. "Madison Symphony at 100" will premiere at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, on PBS Wisconsin and WPR Music.

Encore presentations will be broadcast on PBS Wisconsin at 5:30 p.m. and WPR Music at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.

Following the premiere, the full program can be streamed and exclusive web extras including extended interviews and performances will be available at pbswisconsin.org/mso100 and via the free PBS app.

The finale of the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s 100th season also marked John DeMain’s final performance as the orchestra’s music director. The concert featured four guest vocal soloists and Julian Rhee of Brookfield, Wisconsin, a two-time winner of MSO’s Bolz Young Artist Competition, featured on PBS Wisconsin’s "Wisconsin Young Artists Compete: The Final Forte."

The 90-minute program includes:

• Fantasy on Bizet’s ‘Carmen,’ Op. 25 by Pablo de Sarasate
• An American in Paris by George Gershwin
• Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter from The Planets, Op. 32 by Gustav Holst
• Finale from Symphony No. 9, Op. 125, D minor by Ludwig van Beethoven featuring the MSO Chorus

Extended interviews with DeMain, Rhee and MSO Executive Director Robert Reed and additional performance footage will be available at pbswisconsin.org/mso100 beginning Friday, Sept. 11.
