While discovering and protecting our planet isn’t limited to just one day per year, Earth Day is a great opportunity to teach kids to consider and contribute to a sustainable future.
PBS KIDS is here to help with games, printables and more to get kids’ minds working and their hands dirty. Here are four activities to get started.

In Elinor Wonders Why, Elinor notices a line of tiny ants marching in one direction. She grabs her magnifying glass to get a closer look. How does using a magnifying glass change your perspective? Find out by creating one with your child. Observe Nature with a DIY Magnifying Glass and compare what you notice about different objects. New episodes of Elinor Wonders Why premiere Monday, April 27, on PBS Wisconsin and PBS KIDS!

Play the all-new Weather Reporter game from the PBS KIDS series Weather Hunters. Kids create their own avatar, experiment with weather effects and share a weather report. It’s always free to play and ad free, online or on the PBS KIDS Games App.

Children will learn that they can make choices that can reduce their impacts on the land, water, air and other living things. Learn Along Bingo for Ages 6-8: Protecting Our Planet offers everyday educational ideas for you and your child to choose from. As you complete each square, mark it off to celebrate the learning!

Children recognize that recycling is important, but do they know how easy it is to give “trash” a new life? Making homemade paper provides a hands-on example of how we can help save the environment, one tree at a time.
