PBS Wisconsin Education has relaunched its free collection of First Nations stories, The Ways, for educators seeking standards-aligned, Wisconsin-focused educational media for students in grades 6-12.

New to the collection is “Off-Road Racing: Support Through Community.” Introduced to off-road racing at a young age, Hunter VanZile found support from family, friends and members of the Forest County Potawatomi from the beginning. Learn how Hunter used that support to foster a promising career in professional off-road racing and how he gives back in and around the community.

"Hunter VanZile’s story captures the power of community and determination,” said Ryan Hendricks, PBS Wisconsin Education executive producer. “With the support of his family and the Forest County Potawatomi, he’s not only breaking new ground in off-road racing but also inspiring the next generation to chase their dreams and stay connected to their roots. That connection is one of the many reasons we're thrilled to be creating more stories for The Ways again."

The Ways is a collection of language and culture stories from Native communities around the central Great Lakes that explores traditional ways and those of today. The collection includes contemporary video stories, maps and educator guides with story summaries, discussion questions and supplemental essays. The series also supports educators in meeting the requirements of Wisconsin Act 31.
