This July, PBS Wisconsin presents a dynamic lineup of new programs that span music, art, mystery and meaningful storytelling.

From powerful investigative reporting in new episodes of FRONTLINE and compelling independent documentaries from POV‘s 38th season, to the star-studded celebration A Capitol Fourth 2025 and the return of the heartfelt cooking competition The Great American Recipe, there’s something for every viewer.

A Capitol Fourth 2025

Premieres 7 p.m. Friday, July 4 (9:30 p.m. encore presentation!)

Celebrate our nation’s 249th birthday with a live broadcast from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol – honoring our freedoms and independence, and those who defend them.

The all-star event features patriotic and musical performances across genres, including pop, country, R&B, classical and Broadway, with the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of premier pops conductor Jack Everly. The national Independence Day celebration will be capped off by the greatest display of fireworks for America’s biggest birthday party.

Renaissance: The Blood and the Beauty

All-new series premieres 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8

The greatest artworks in western civilization emerged from one of the bloodiest periods in history. This series explores the lives of three of the greatest artists in history – Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael – as they craft beauty from chaos.

Season 4 | The Great American Recipe

Premieres 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13

The competition returns to Nashville with eight talented home cooks showcasing their signature recipes each week. After eight weeks of cherished recipes and heartfelt stories, one home cook will be crowned the winner of “The Great American Recipe.”

Dalgliesh

Based on P.D. James’ global bestsellers, this riveting mystery series stars Bertie Carvel as enigmatic Inspector Adam Dalgliesh. The Amish Dilemma

Take a rare look into a conservative community reputed to be the most closed in the world. Three generations of Amish make a rare decision to tell their stories after months of reflection and debate with their pastors.

How can they live between an ancestral ideology and a civilization of consumption pushed to the extreme? This documentary raises questions about the notion of individual freedom, belonging to a minority and economic and social norms, as well as the place of women.
