Join Dr. Katrina Phillips in PBS Wisconsin’s Studio A for the live recording of a new University Place episode!
Northern Wisconsin’s rich forests and plentiful lakes have been a marker of pride for decades. They have served as the foundation of Ojibwe livelihoods, as the backbone of industry, and as a key piece of the state’s conservation movement. In this talk, Dr. Katrina Phillips (Red Cliff Ojibwe) traces the parallel growth of tourism and treaty rights advocacy in the 20th and 21st centuries, highlighting the questions, contestations, and outcomes of these movements.

How to find Studio A:
PBS Wisconsin’s studios are located inside Vilas Communication Hall at 821 University Avenue (Madison, WI).
Look for the PBS Wisconsin sign near the corner where University Ave meets Park St, right next to Vilas Hall’s loading dock. Under that ign, you’ll see a set of stairs. Take those stairs down to enter the 2nd floor of the building.
Follow the hallway until you reach a set of double glass doors that will take you into our studio lobby! You’ll see PBS Wisconsin signage. In the lobby, head right. Then walk around the corner and down the hallway to find Studio A!
Accessible entrance: Once you locate Vilas Hall’s loading dock – please use the ramp to the left to go up to the 3rd-floor entrance. Proceed past the glass doors to the elevators and take the elevator down to the 2nd floor. From there, head straight down the hall, and you’ll see the studio entrance, the last doors on the left.
