Alex Ridley is a charismatic former detective inspector who retired from the police after years of dedicated service, having lost his wife and daughter in a devastating arson attack on their family home.

In this thrilling crime series, Ridley has returned to the police force as a consultant – joining forces with his former protégée, DI Carol Farman, now at the helm of investigations.

Van der Valk on Masterpiece

Season 4 premieres 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15

Dutch detective Piet Van der Valk and his team return to investigate new crimes in Amsterdam. In addition to solving murder cases, Van der Valk has to deal with an unwelcome past romance resurfacing and find a way to make one of his beloved team members confront their own mortality.
