PBS Wisconsin will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a special presentation of the 43rd annual State of Wisconsin Tribute & Ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King from the State Capitol in Madison.

The full program will air and stream live as it happens at noon Monday, Jan. 15 on The Wisconsin Channel, or PBS Wisconsin-2, and at pbswisconsin.org. A one-hour program featuring special moments from the State of Wisconsin’s official tribute and ceremony will be broadcast the same night at 8 p.m. on PBS Wisconsin.

Audio from the full program will also be broadcast live at noon on Wisconsin Public Radio.

Hosted by Dr. Jonathan Overby, this year’s event – the oldest official Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration in the United States – is themed “One Day.” It will honor Dr. King’s birthday and his legacy of service, dream of equal rights for Black Americans and his belief in the power of equality.

Featured participants will include the Chicago Mass Choir, Latino Arts Mariachi Juvenil ensemble, First Nation flutist Frank Montano and guest speaker Rev. Dr. Marcus Allen, of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Madison.
