Picnic!
Give your creation a name based on the flavors and decoration – and tell us about your recipe.
“The Ladybug Picnic Brought To You By the Number 12.” Please tell me I’m not the only one who remembers the ditty from Sesame Street. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX9J7WcYtxI I grew up with the ladybug picnic counting song, so when I heard Picnic was the challenge, I decided a PBS reference would be perfect. My quiche was meh, but the rest of my items turned out well, especially my ladybug picnic celebration cake. It was pretty cute. 🙂
What was your favorite thing about The Great Wisconsin Baking challenge overall (whether you participated in one or all challenges)? What did you learn from this final challenge? What are you most proud of when it comes to your bake?
The thing I’m most proud of on this bake (and on all of them) is I have THREE JOBS THIS SUMMER AND I STILL MANAGED TO DO A CHALLENGE EVERY SINGLE WEEK! I rocked it! (and I rarely feel that about anything I do.) THANK YOU Jessica, Jonna and whomever else at WPT worked on this. You guys rocked it, too! I’m so sad this is the last season of the show with Mary, Sue and Mel. It won’t be the same.
Did you incorporate three local ingredients into your Final creation? Tell us about your Wisconsin twist!
And then some! Quiche: Eggs (our chicken), vegetables from the garden (eggplant, zucchini, carrots, celery from a neighbor). Fruit on the tarts was ALL from our garden (including elderberries), WI butter. Savory Scones: aged 10 year old cheddar from my fave cheese store The Cheese Board, herbs from the garden, WI butter. Sausage rolls (which were tofu): vegetables and herbs from the garden.
How did you do?
Rocked it.
