Spiced Rhubard Brûlée Cake – I found this recipe is from Smitten Kitchen blog, first time bake for me!
Tell us about your proudest moment – or humble failure – in this week’s baking challenge.
I really liked the spiced cake and my initial Wisconsin rhubarb design but when I softened the rhubarb in the sugar topping I let it get too soft. The sugar topping was pretty thick and hardened during the bake, hence the brûlée in the name. I definitely felt a little of the pressure the bakers feel to succeed and I didn’t have any cameras on me!
Describe how you added a Wisconsin twist to your creation.
The rhubarb is Wisconsin (backyard) grown and it was arranged in the shape of the state. The cherries were placed to represent Milwaukee and Eau Claire, my two hometowns.
How did you do?
It’s not pretty, but it’s edible.
