Snow falls. Winter begins. Winter in Wisconsin traces a new path. Charts a new trail. A season of frosted landscapes that last but a day. Icy blue vistas, atop the waters. And deep green pines framed in snowy white. It's brisk. It's bracing. And it's a wonder to behold. A season like no other. A view of the state like no other. Ariens Fund within the Brillion Area Family of Funds Stanley J. Cottrill Fund Holiday Vacations and Friends of Wisconsin Public Television We all know it's coming. That first real snowfall. The colors of autumn faded long ago. And a new season begins. Fresh white blankets the ground. And the familiar path becomes a new trail. Winter in Wisconsin doesn't really feel... here, until that first snow. There are bound to be many chilly mornings ahead, and more snowfalls to come, but there's something about that first one, something about a Wisconsin winter that always seems... just a little magical.

Winter can challenge the heartiest of souls. Cabin fever is real. And there's no denying the bite of a 20 below wind chill. But in Wisconsin, we don't shut down for a little weather. Two feet of new snow is just one more reason to get out into it. And, well, the trail is calling.

skitch, skitch Skates are on. Ice is calling. Gliding effortlessly across the lake, and beyond, to where the ice stretches as far as the horizon. The cold has stilled the water and created a new surface, a new world to explore. Lands' end no longer limits our path. And for a short time, winter in Wisconsin means new roads, not found on any map.
