And before the Assembly this week, Shannon Holsey, the president of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians delivered the State of the Tribes Address. She spoke to a number of issues facing Wisconsin’s Tribal Nations including veterans, conserving natural resources, education, healthcare, and preserving the sanctity of democracy. The next generation of our young people are now emerging as political actors in global, regional and local debates. That is why representation truly matters and it’s so critical to preserve the sanctity of democracy, where diverse groups of people are included where decisions are made. That is why voting is so sacred.
