Gov. Scott Walker:
Good evening to the great fellow citizens of this great state, the state of Wisconsin.
Gov. Jim Doyle:
Members of the Wisconsin legislature and fellow citizens of Wisconsin.
Gov. Scott McCallum:
I come before you tonight to report on the state of the state.
Walker:
Two years ago when I first stood here as your new governor, Wisconsin was facing a $3.6 billion budget deficit.
Doyle:
Last year we saw gridlock and a budget that was delayed four months.
McCallum:
Last year I introduced a fiscally sound, balanced and realistic budget.
Walker:
Today, unlike the federal government and many of our neighboring states, we have a surplus.
Doyle:
Today, our universities and public institutions are global centers for research and development.
McCallum:
Today we are in the midst of a challenging special session.
