WPT's The Wisconsin Gardener to Feature Basil and Landscape Lighting

"Basil and Landscape Lighting," a new episode of The Wisconsin Gardener on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) looks at the numerous varieties of basil and how to enhance recipes with the tender herb. The program also includes an informative segment on landscape lighting. "Basil and Landscape Lighting" premieres 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22 with an encore broadcast at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24. Producer, Host and Master Gardener Shelley Ryan discovers that basil comes in various sizes, shapes and colors. Diane Bober from Green Woman Herbs in Mineral Point shares growing tips and reveals which varieties are her favorites to cook with. Basil is a wonderful addition to many recipes. At Carr Valley Cheese Cooking School in Sauk City chef Wave Kasprzak, co-owner of The Dining Room at 209 Main in Monticello, prepares salmon basil hash, bread salad with basil dressing and Thai basil shrimp. A visit with Madison's Olbrich Gardens Director of Horticulture Jeff Epping offers viewers a lesson in landscape lighting. Learn how lighting can be used to create drama in a winter or nighttime garden, or to highlight a garden path. Funding for The Wisconsin Gardener is provided by Wisconsin Master Gardener Association.
