WPT's In Wisconsin Reports on Rock County Veterans Treatment Court in Janesville

The next episode of In Wisconsin on Wisconsin Public Television (WPT) features reports on the innovative Rock County Veterans Treatment Court in Janesville, controversy surrounding the annual bear hunt in the Northwoods and how the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is an inspiration to Native Americans. The newsmagazine airs at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20 on WPT and is available in high definition. WPT will present an encore of the program at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23. Milwaukee's MPTV will air the program at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 23. In Wisconsin Reporter, Frederica Freyberg, visits Rock County Veterans Treatment Court in Janesville where Chief Judge James Daley volunteers to run the vets only court program that aims to give treatment for a combat veteran who gets in trouble with the law and keep them out of prison. The return of the grey wolf to natural hunting grounds in Wisconsin has been contentious at best. Now two unlikely partners, the Department of Natural Resources and bear hunters are taking aim at wolves. In Wisconsin Reporter Jo Garrett shows viewers what is on the line near Clam Lake when bear hunters unleash their hounds into the woods for the annual bear hunt. A report from In Wisconsin Reporter Liz Koerner features the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, which boasts windswept beaches and rocky cliffs. Park ranger Damon Panek, a member of the Ojibwe Nation, offers a wealth of cultural and historical knowledge along with a deep passion for the natural world to visitors and students who attend the Apostle Island School.
